A bronze frog figure, acquired by antiquities service Exc. 1959-60.

This is similar to larger frog-figures in stone, symbols of the water-goddess Heket associated with the latest stages of the Nile flood. Heket is known from 5000 years ago in Egypt. In Sudan frog amulets were a symbol of fertility, renewal of life and good luck. Frogs  were closely associated with the overall cycle of the Nile floods and other -water sources. Wad Ban Naga. Meroitic Period.
